Godlet is an abstract exploration of one of the most profound realizations on the spiritual journey — that the divine we seek outside ourselves is also the divine within us.
The title Godlet comes from the idea of each of us as a “mini God” — not separate from the divine, but a manifestation of the same underlying consciousness. The work explores the recognition that God is me, and I am God: a movement away from seeing the divine as something distant and external, towards recognising it within oneself.
The painting draws upon the Vedantic idea of self-inquiry and the contemplation of one’s true nature. In Advaita Vedanta, the inquiry into Who am I? ultimately points towards the recognition of the Self as non-separate from the absolute reality.
The vibrant, layered forms and colours in Godlet reflect this inner exploration. There is no literal figure of God within the composition; instead, the abstraction allows the idea to remain open, suggesting that the divine cannot be confined to a particular form.
The work represents an early but significant realization on the spiritual path: to truly seek the divine, one must first be willing to recognise the divine nature within oneself. This is the contemplative idea that the work seeks to evoke through colour, form, and abstraction.
At 5 × 3 feet, Godlet is conceived as a large-scale statement work — one that can be experienced visually while also inviting a deeper, more introspective engagement.
