Eden is a meditation on memory, belonging, and the quiet intimacy of place. Inspired by the landscape surrounding my home in Assam, the painting draws from countless hours spent on the balcony, immersed in the ever-changing rhythm of tropical foliage.
The dense vegetation, overlapping leaves, and flashes of colour are drawn from this familiar environment, but the painting does not attempt to document a particular location. Instead, I have distilled the landscape into a composition of intense simplicity, preserving only the elements that remained with me as memory.
The circular format further lends the work a sense of enclosure — almost like looking into a contained world or a remembered fragment of home. The lush greens and vivid forms create a landscape that feels both immediate and distant, grounded in a real place yet transformed through recollection.
Eden is ultimately an emotional landscape: a reflection on the profound connection we form with places that quietly become part of who we are. Even after we leave them, certain spaces remain within us through fragments of colour, light, atmosphere, and feeling.
At 3 feet in diameter, Eden is a substantial statement artwork that brings a vivid yet contemplative presence to a contemporary interior.
